52 an hour PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Under the supervision of the Pump Repair Foreman, safely performs various skilled activities relating to operation and maintenance of District pumping equipment, wells, and related facilities and equipment.
TYPICAL TASKS Maintain motors, pumps, valves, traveling water screens, conveyors, and related facilities.
Schedule and perform preventative maintenance of facilities as well as diagnose problems and make repairs.
perform tests and maintain records as required.
Remove, repair, and install motors and pumps, operate stationary and mobile cranes, and various maintenance vehicles.

Pump rotating elements 6.
Sight glasses 7.
Victaulic couplings and rubber gaskets 8.

Qualifications Education:
Graduation from High School or G.
E.
D.
certificate.
Experience:
Two years experience in operation and maintenance of pumping plants and related facilities is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Must obtain a thorough knowledge of District distribution facilities and operations in regard to motors, pumps, traveling water screens, water distribution system operation, emergency procedures, and organizational policies.
Should have basic knowledge of electricity.
The ability to do basic arc and oxy-acetylene welding is desirable.
Analyze emergency situations quickly and accurately and take effective action; establish and maintain effective, cooperative relationships with others.
Be willing to work irregular hours as needed.
Interpret and apply District regulations and procedures.
Develop and maintain effective work relationships with fellow District employees, water users, landowners, and representatives of other agencies, deal tactfully with the public and fellow employees, and exercise good judgement and initiative.
Be accurate, thorough, neat, able to meet schedules, and deadlines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk on uneven, wet, or slippery ground, including ground that may contain a few easily avoidable obstacles.
The employee is required to use the hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, and crouch or crawl.
The employee is required to drive a service vehicle in all types of weather.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS A job related physical exam and drug screening is mandatory as well as obtaining a valid, Class A California Driver's License and acceptable DMV record.
Successful candidates will be expected to train for and pass a NCCCO certified crane operator course and maintain a valid Crane Operator Certification.
WORKING CONDITIONS WAGES - Please refer to current Wage Schedule.
HOURS - 0700 to 1530, Monday through Friday including one half-hour lunch break from 1200 to 1230.
Additional scheduled breaks are 15 minutes at 0900 and 1400 hours.
